Why Namibia

Think sunrise over the Sossusvlei dunes, lunchtime from a Swakopmund café, and weekend game drives in Etosha. Namibia now welcomes remote professionals through a Digital Nomad Visa so you can live legally in Namibia while keeping your foreign-sourced work and income. (NIPDB)

What this visa is (clear & human)

A temporary digital-nomad visa that lets you stay for up to 6 months while working remotely for a non-Namibian employer/clients. The program is non-renewable; you may re-apply 12 months after expiry. No change of visa conditions is allowed under this category. (NIPDB)

Fast facts

  • Stay length: up to 6 months. Non-renewable; re-apply after 12 months. (NIPDB)
  • Government fee: USD 124 (typically paid after approval, before travel; a “loose entry” visa is then issued). (NIPDB)
  • Work scope: remote work for overseas entities only (not local employment). (NIPDB)

Eligibility & income

You’ll need to show you can support yourself (and any family) while in Namibia:

  • Applicant: USD 2,000/month
  • Accompanying spouse: +USD 1,000/month
  • Each child: +USD 500/month

You’ll also need valid travel/health insurance and standard entry documents. (NIPDB)

Typical documents

  • Passport + photo
  • Proof of remote work (employment contract or, for freelancers, client contracts/invoices)
  • Income & funds evidence (e.g., payslips/contract + recent bank statements showing the thresholds above)
  • Health or travel insurance covering care in Namibia
  • Police certificate/clearances if requested
  • Family civil docs (marriage/birth certificates) for dependents

See the official application checklist linked on the program page. (NIPDB)

How to apply — step by step

  1. Complete the online application form (Digital Nomad Visa).
  2. Upload documents (passport, income/funds, insurance, remote-work proof).
  3. Await approval & payment instructions; pay USD 124 (EFT or via a local representative).
  4. Receive your loose entry visa and travel to Namibia.
  5. Comply with conditions during your stay (remote work only; keep insurance active). (NIPDB)

Practical tips (from the field)

  • Align your story: amounts in employer letters, contracts/invoices, and bank statements should match.
  • Insurance wording: ensure it explicitly covers medical treatment in Namibia for your full stay.
  • Plan your arc: because the visa is non-renewable, map your next destination or a gap before any re-application.
